Life Decisions

Well aren’t life decisions fun to make? Things that will change your life are, well, life changing and because of that should be taken seriously. Wouldn’t it be epic if whenever we had a decision to make a big booming voice came from the clouds and told us which direction to take, which opportunity to run with, who to follow on Instagram. Sadly that doesn’t happen, but we do have the word of God with us instead which is just as epic. Whenever you have a life changing moment there are three things you should do.
  • Pray About It / Listen To God About It / Trust God About It
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

As you can see in this verse, just trust God with it. If it is right then God will make it happen and if it’s not right then God will ‘shut the door’ on what you think you should do. God would never put you through something he didn’t think you can handle and a life changing decision is a biggie. When you have an opportunity pray about it, speak to God about it, but just as importantly LISTEN to him. If your mind-set before prayer is I’m going to do this anyway then you are most likely going to go to do it. Spend time just listening to God. What’s his plans? Trust God that he has got it under control and if it isn’t meant to be then God has something even better lined up for you.
  • Talk About It
Talk about it with people you trust. Seek wise counsel. Ask someone older then you, someone you look up to. Someone who knows your heart. God would have put that person in your life for a reason. Get them to pray about it to. Get them to listen to God. Get them to trust God with your decision too.
  • Don’t Rush On It
Don’t rush. If you feel God is calling you to go to Canada and plant a church, don’t then go the next day. These life changing decisions take time. So just press into God with it. Make sure you have things in place (money, accommodation, God centered, spoken to people etc).
It’s OK to make mistakes. You might feel like God is saying something, then you move or go for the opportunity then maybe realise you were wrong and that you misheard God. God still loves you. You just need to come back to God. Come back to the heart of worship. You may be able to tell the theme of this blog is trust God, and with life decisions just trust him, he loves you.
